Sunny Kwon (Business Development Manager) - Meet The Team!

December 21 2016

How did you get into the business (Business, International Trade, ABCS etc)?

I got into this field by working for an international trading corporation in their Sydney branch. I studied commerce and wanted to jump into a field that fit my interests and personality well and international trading was perfect for me at the time.

Favourite flavour of ice cream?

Affogato and Chocolate.

One interesting fact about yourself ?

I have a NAATI accreditation for interpreting (English and Korean both ways).

Worst advice you were ever given about your area of expertise?

“Just do it like we do it here/run the same campaign.” As you’re working with different countries and cultures in international trade, there are a lot more variables to consider. I was given advice to run the same campaign or carry business out the same way to cut time even when it was regarding a different country under the assumption that a method proven successful once will always work again and again.

Biggest achievement to date?

Finding the motivation to exercise regularly! As I’ve always been more desserts and coffee than a gym person my whole life, trying to find the healthy balance while maintaining the desserts I enjoy was a long journey.

If you could do anything you wanted right now, what would it be?

I want to be in Hogwarts! Just watched the Fantastic Beasts and it reminded me of how wonderful that whole world was. On a more realistic note, I’m quite content with where I am now.

What do you love most about your job?

I love problem solving and being busy and this jobs allows me to do both. I particularly enjoy seeing businesses really tap into their potential with the right assistance and the change that has in their lives.

If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to and why?

1940. I would be interested to see the social revolutions and changes that the world experienced from about 1940 till now.

Best advertisement you ever saw in relation to brands promoting themselves overseas.

I’m not sure about the single best advertisement but I enjoy seeing brand marketing from companies that are known to have good localisation campaigns (McDonalds, Starbucks etc) or ones that are eye-catchingly creative.

Happy Canada Day

How would your friends describe you?

I guess each friend might have a different opinion on this but the common keywords I often hear from them are loyal, honest, curious and random.
