GATEWAY to CHINA - Sydney Launch

September 04 2015

Export Growth China launched in Sydney on Wednesday 26th August with a record attendance of over 140 people. Paula Martin (Australian Business Consulting Solutions GM) led the evening along with Tony Dormer (President, NSW Business Chamber) who introduced proceedings sharing Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s video support of the program and highlights from the recent Shanghai launch. Following which Mr Chen, CCPIT Australia, reciprocated on behalf of our China partners.
Committed to providing Australian SMEs with the most relevant and beneficial information, the event drew upon Iconic members and both Government and corporate partners in a panel; Stephen Keir (Akubra GM), Darren Cocks (NSWBC Director Commercial and Membership Services), Heath Baker (Austrade NSW Director), Steven Bennett (NAB - GM,Trade & Working Capital Solutions Product & Markets) and James McElvogue (PwC - Partner - Private Clients Sydney).
Sara Cheng (Senior Manager, China Practice, NSW Business Chamber) then presented an overview of the Export Growth China program, providing updates on what the team have been delivering for Program Participants thus far and early outcomes.
One such outcome being Candori Australia, an exporter of powdered milk products who have recently established a trade agreement through the Export Growth China program that will see the company’s premium range of infant formula and UHT milk stocked in 350 supermarkets across China.
“As a result of the agreement, annual sales for Candori products in China from this agreement alone are expected to reach at least 4 million Chinese Yuan Renminbi, well over $AUD 850 000, which is a fantastic result just a few months into our Export Growth China program.” Stephen Cartwright, NSW Business Chamber CEO.
It was delightful to see so many of our Export Growth China members. The inaugural networking after the formal proceedings offered a place for members, partners and fellow exporters to celebrate the recent wins and look favourably on the future.
